A water truck appears to shower the land with a rainbow. The colourful arc was formed as farmers irrigated their crops near the Everglades National Park in Florida, America. Photographer Judd Patterson captured this photograph from the roadside.

An unwary grasshopper is snatched from a tree branch at lightning speed by the long tongue of a chameleon. Photographer Francisco Mingorance captured the attack using a shutter speed of 1/500th of a second to get the frame, taken outside in natural sunshine, near Malaga, Spain.

An iceberg that looks like a dragon is seen in the Antarctic Peninsula near Peterman Island. Kseniia Maiukova, who photographed the formation, said: “One evening while on a tourist trip there were seven of us on a zodiac boat in the bay surrounded by icebergs. There were dozens of them all around us, all of different shapes and sizes it was a really amazing view and a feeling very hard to describe with words. This dragon-shaped iceberg attracted my sight from the beginning – in fact almost all seven of us noticed it at once and started to photograph it. At first we thought it looked a bit like a thumb – then when we got back on land it suddenly became clear it looks exactly like a dragon.”

Red sky at night… photographer’s delight. This eerily beautiful shot of a red and orange-tinged sky above Hadrian’s Wall was taken by 17-year-old self-taught photographer Will Nicholls. The shot of Steel Rigg was taken at a section of the wall in Hexham, Northumberland. The colour of the sky is caused by light pollution. Keen photographer Will won Young British Wildlife Photographer of the Year at the age of 14 and, despite still being in his teens, has gone on to win a wealth of other accolades for his photography.
